Links for DOC (MicroSoft Word Document Format)
Sources of DOC Viewers
-
There is no free software that displays a document in DOC format exactly as it appears in the Microsoft's proprietary software Word. This approach is different from that of other developers of proprietary formats, such as Adobe, that offer free software such as Acrobat Reader for viewing documents having their proprietary format.
Sources of DOC Generators

The open-source application
OpenOffice
can be used to view, edit and create DOC files. However, the DOC format is proprietary and is not available to the OpenOffice developers. Therefore some features may not be available when a DOC document is viewed in OpenOffice. Also, the layout may not look the same as in Microsoft Word.

Of course, MicrosoftWord can also be used to view, edit and create DOC files, but it is not free (either gratis or libre).
